C.L.R. James

Cyril Lionel Robert James was a Trinidadian historian, journalist, cricket writer, and Marxist theorist. His landmark work The Black Jacobins (1938), a history of the Haitian Revolution, is considered one of the greatest historical works of the 20th century. His cricket memoir Beyond a Boundary is equally celebrated.
