Derek Walcott

Derek Alton Walcott was a Saint Lucian poet and playwright who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1992. His epic poem Omeros, a Caribbean retelling of Homer's Iliad, is widely regarded as the greatest work of Caribbean literature. He was also a founding member of the Trinidad Theatre Workshop.
