Nanny of the Maroons

Nanny, also known as Queen Nanny, was an 18th-century leader of the Jamaican Maroons. She led the Windward Maroons in guerrilla warfare against British colonial forces and is celebrated for her military strategy and spiritual leadership. She is Jamaica's only female National Hero.
